The Atlas Newsletter Revival - Volume 1

The Atlas Newsletter returns to you for weekly international updates!

Good morning everyone,

It's been quite some time since the last newsletter was dropped. Almost a year, in fact. We had some things we had to work out and test some major overhauls to our system, however, it is with the utmost excitement that I can now declare that the Atlas Newsletter is back and a regular expectation. Don't forget to add us to your email list so as to avoid us landing in your spam folder!

That being said, it's been an eventful year for both The Atlas News and for the world itself. The war in Ukraine continues to escalate, South and Central America have been rocked by protests and corruption scandals, China battles COVID and it's neighbors, while the West remains politically fractured and economically unstable.

All in all, just another day at the office. So let's dive in:- Joshua Paulo, Sebastien Gray, & the Atlas team

THE WEST DECIDES TO SEND TANKS TO UKRAINE

Saturday, January 28th, 2022: The United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and several other western nations have decided to send advanced heavy armor to Ukraine, in the form of main battle tanks. These are to include the M1 Abrams, the Leopard II, and the Challenger II, all with proven battle records throughout the wars in the Middle East. The timing coincides with the expectation that a major Russian offensive will occur during spring, with President Zelenskyy declaring the need for tanks is necessary to holding off the Russians.

The move, however, has been marked by controversy and speculation as experts call into question how much tanks will help the Ukrainians or if the extensive maintenance and logistical needs of such heavy equipment is something Ukraine can sustain. It's also been a bit of a political nightmare with President Biden openly reversing his decision to send tanks, Germany resisting efforts to provide their Leopards, and Russia announcing the West's decision is a de-facto declaration of war.

Needless to say, the decision is not one taken lightly by experts or government officials and is surely one to drastically affect the course of the war and reaffirms the West's commitment to Ukraine, as well as acts as a strong bulwark and deterrent to Russia. Next, its speculated, Ukraine will ask for advanced aircraft such as the F-16 Fighting Falcon, something Lockheed Martin has already begun to prepare for.
